Providing Education Materials
With the change of the national language to English a few years ago, Rwanda is facing a large change in their education system. With a annual per capita GDP of just over $700 USD in 2016 it is hard for schools to afford the English materials they need. Itara is looking to help solve this problem with books and solar lights. Itara has teamed up with locals in Rwanda to help provide lights to educational institutions. Below is a video of JP, a leader in our efforts helping a primary (elementary) school in rural Rwanda. We are set to help schools similar to Rukore Primary School in the coming months.

Rukore Primary has 960 students with only 12 classrooms. 3 students share one desk. Due to the large class sizes the school had to split up into AM/PM schedules to decreases the student body size to 480. Less than 10% of these children have access to electricity. Children walk at least 400 m and as far as 9.5 km to attend this school. School facilities are minimal with only 21 toilets for all the children. Although the school doesn't have a lot of materials they have great values upheld by their staff of 15.
